Full PUBG Mobile Review: Storyline, Gameplay, Graphics & Everything Else
Despite the weirdness of the thought, I will never forget the day I got PUBG Mobile on my smartphone. The thing is that I didn’t expect much from this game since before I played a few shooters on my phone, which seemed good by their looks but were extremely boring during gameplay. So, after getting PUBG Mobile, I started my first game without any knowledge about the controls, locations, and the game itself. It took me very little time to get myself into finding weapons and running away from other players wondering what was so serious about this game.
The first few games were definitely a catastrophe since I chose crowded locations, took random weapons and was eliminated almost instantly before even being able to do anything. But after some time spent learning the maps, changing the control settings and improving my shooting skills, I consider this game one of the most entertaining mobile shooters ever.
PUBG Mobile is not only about shooting other players. This game is a mix of survival, strategy, cooperation and fast-thinking.
What Is PUBG Mobile?
The PUBG Mobile game is an action genre game in which players compete against each other in battle royale. The PUBG Mobile allows you to enjoy the game on your smartphone, just as you play on the PC or console.
In the game, there are one hundred players who drop from the sky at a large map location and start killing each other with weapons till one player remains alive.
Though the aim of the game seems simple, every match presents new challenges owing to its various components.
Story and Concept of PUBG Mobile
Unlike regular games that have a story line in video form, PUBG Mobile is more of a survival game than an action game with a story. It lacks the feature of following one player through the whole story of the game.
It involves creating a battle arena where players have to compete against each other in order to be the last survivor.
At first, I believed that having better weapons is the best way to win a game but with time I came to realize that position and decision making is even more important. A player who does not have good equipment but has a good strategy stands a chance to beat someone with better equipment.
PUBG Mobile Gameplay
The game play is the most outstanding thing in this game. Its controls work perfectly on touch screens and after getting used to it, it becomes very easy.
A match starts when players land on the island through a plane.
Landing Strategy
Many new users tend to choose locations where there are lots of players to get started. Popular locations such as Pochinki or School on the map of Erangel usually include many players, which means a quick fight and fast elimination of the player.
Personal advice for the beginners:
Choose safer locations to begin with
Find weapons at first
Study the map gradually
Don't rush into fights at the beginning
Once you feel comfortable with the game, you can try landing at high-risk locations to boost your fighting skills.
Weapons and Combat System
A wide range of weapons is included in PUBG Mobile, such as:
Assault Rifles
Sniper Rifles
Shotguns
Submachine guns
Pistols
Grenades
Every weapon has its own strengths. For instance, assault rifles can be used for medium-distance shooting, while sniper rifles will work best for long-distance shooting.
One of the mistakes I did at the beginning of playing PUBG Mobile was using all the weapons in the same way. I was using sniper rifles for close combat and couldn't understand why I constantly lose the fights. Learning about weapon strengths changed everything.
Attachments can help to boost performance as well.
Maps and Locations
Maps are one of the best things about PUBG Mobile.
Erangel
This is the original map in PUBG and one of the most frequently chosen maps.
This map is good for beginners as it has many places where players can learn to fight differently.
Miramar
This is a desert map with wide open spaces. This means that long-distance fights are common on this map and sniping is vital.
Sanhok
This map is small and fast compared to other maps. There are many intense fights because players meet each other fast.
Livik
Livik is good for short games for those who don’t have time but want to play competitively.
Graphics Quality and Visual Experience
When it comes to graphics optimization, PUBG mobile always amazes me. It's remarkable how good the visuals are, given the fact that it runs on smartphones.
There are various graphics options:
Smooth
Balanced
HD
HDR
Ultra HD (if supported by the device)
For a mid-range smartphone, it's often better to use Smooth graphics with high frame rate rather than maximum graphics with lags.
I realized this when I played the game on an old phone. Firstly, I raised graphics quality as I wanted to see better visuals, but the game started to freeze during battles. Lowering graphics quality and increasing the frame rate significantly improved my performance.
Performance on Different Devices
Performance of PUBG Mobile is greatly influenced by your smartphone.
A good experience often demands:
Decent processor
Sufficient amount of RAM
Stable internet connection
Available storage space
Budget smartphones will be able to play the game, but the player might need to lower the graphics quality.
Some examples:
2-3 GB RAM – may have problems with smooth gameplay
4 GB RAM – provides acceptable performance
6+ GB RAM – works fine with the game
High-end smartphones will have higher graphics and faster loading time.
Controls and Customization
One thing that I love about the game is the fact that you can customize your controls.
Here are some things you can change:
Button placements
Sensitivity
Gyroscope
Scopes
Different people have different styles of play. While some people would like to keep their controls simple, others like to use more complex controls with several fingers.
Customizing controls for beginners:
Gradually increase sensitivity of the camera
Play in training mode
Change size of buttons
Do not constantly change your settings.
Team and Multiplayer PUBG Mobile
Playing with other players makes PUBG Mobile much more fun.
The features of the game include:
Solo match
Duo match
Squad match
It is vital to communicate in squad matches. With the help of voice communication, your team will be able to find the location of the enemies and start an attack.
I have observed that the coordinated team with average skills usually beats the skilled team without communication.
Typical Mistakes New Players Usually Commit
There are some common mistakes that players make during the game.
1. Running Blindly
Most times, running into enemies without knowing what is surrounding them ends up with immediate death.
2. Neglecting Safe Area
The safe area, which is usually blue-colored, can affect players greatly. Always have the map open.
3. Collecting Extra Equipment
Most people carry too much equipment which affects their ability to carry the essentials.
4. Changing Sensitivity Constantly
Changing sensitivity settings regularly makes it hard to improve one’s skills.
5. Playing Without Headphones
Sound is very critical and gives essential cues through footsteps and gunshot sounds.
PUBG Mobile Tips to Become a Better Player
Below are some helpful tips that have assisted me:
Training Mode Practice
Take your time testing different weapons and sensitivity before moving to actual games.
Learn to Control Recoils
There is no gun like another. Therefore, it’s good to practice gun control.
Use Headphones
This can provide you with an edge by enhancing your awareness in-game.
Learn From Errors
If you lose any game, take your time analyzing your mistakes rather than blaming luck.
Be Consistent
Consistent small changes are much more effective than playing infrequently but for long periods.
Updates and Events of PUBG Mobile
Another reason why PUBG Mobile continues to be one of the best games on the mobile is because of its regular updates.
Some examples of updates include:
New Modes
Seasonal Rewards
Improved Weapons
Events
Cosmetics
Is PUBG Mobile Worth Playing?
Being an experienced player of PUBG Mobile, I am sure that this is one of the best games in this category which exists now. This game is not perfect; however, the combination of its elements makes each game very interesting.
One of the lessons that I learned during my time playing PUBG Mobile is that it does not matter how quickly you do things because fast actions cannot help you win in such games. What really matters is making good choices and being patient.
The first piece of advice that I would give to beginners is to enjoy the learning process. There is no need for you to feel sorry for yourself for losing in your first few battles since everybody was at the same level once.
This game is recommended to try by all fans of action and competition.
