Angry Birds Mobile Full Review: Story, Game play, Graphics & More

It has been decades since I first downloaded the Angry Birds game on my old smartphone. At that point, all I needed was something to kill time until my friends arrived, but little did I know that I would spend the next hour attempting to beat one tough level, as I was confident I could bring down all the pigs with one bird! And it's that challenge which makes Angry Birds so enjoyable and unforgettable even to this day.

Sure, I have played countless other mobile games since then, be it racing or battle royale games, but I always go back to Angry Birds when I need something easy to pick up and equally relaxing.

So, without further ado, here are my thoughts on whether you should give Angry Birds another shot.

Angry Birds is a game which relies on physics and puzzles. It involves launching colorful birds from a slingshot into some structures in order to destroy them and get rid of the evil green pigs which kidnapped the birds' eggs.

The story is rather simple yet interesting enough. The green pigs take away the birds' eggs, and the birds decide to fight back. Nothing more is needed, and it does not need anything else.

This game does not rely on a complex story; it is all about the fun game play, so everyone can enjoy playing it.

Story Review

Unlike most of modern games which involve lots of scenes and intricate characters, Angry Birds is much simpler.

One morning the calm birds realize that their eggs have been taken away by a group of green pigs. Instead of crying in despair, the birds decide to start a war using the only available weapon, the slingshot.

Every stage serves the single goal the return of their eggs.

Although the plot is pretty simple, it gives each stage a meaning and motivates players to move forward.

The controls are very straightforward.

Target carefully.

Let go of your bird.

Destroy everything.

Sounds pretty easy, right? Well, each level presents new structures built out of wood, stone, glass, and even metal.

All the materials behave differently.

In the beginning, I used to waste a lot of birds by targeting the strongest spot of every tower. But now after many levels, I have realized that the key was not to use brute force, but rather to find those weak points that would result in the collapse of the whole structure.

One of the best things about this game is that all the birds are really useful.

Just the regular bird with no special ability.

Speeds up after tapping the screen.

Perfect for breaking wooden structures.

Bomb explodes after touching ground.

Ideal for breaking down stone structures and swarms of pigs.

Blues

Three small blue birds break into three individual birds.

Works excellently with glass blocks.

Matilda

Lays an explosive egg and flies upwards.

Excellent choice when the pigs are hiding beneath the platforms.

Terence

The strongest bird in the game.

Slow and extremely powerful.

Knowing how to use the right bird is among the most rewarding aspects of playing the game.

Graphics

Although Angry Birds is not intended to rival the latest graphics from the console games, its visual appeal is outstanding.

Its bright and joyful colours.

Its amusing bird animations.

Its pigs make hilarious faces when they are about to lose.

The structures fall naturally due to realistic physics, and it's very gratifying.

Its developers have also updated its visuals throughout time, making it look much better on newer smartphones.

Sound Effects

Sound effects receive less appreciation than they actually deserve.

Those legendary sounds of the birds are easily recognized by anyone.

Each bird has its distinctive voice.

Wood crackles.

Glass shatters.

Stones crash down.

The pigs produce funny sounds after being hit which makes every win more enjoyable.

Sometimes I play the game with headphones as sound effects really add an unexpected level of satisfaction.

Controls

One of the aspects where Angry Birds stays close to perfection is controls.

Touch controls are intuitive and easy to use.

Even if you have no experience of playing mobile games, you will learn the controls in a matter of several minutes.

Precise angles need some practice to master, but it is quite a challenge.

Difficulty

Early levels are quite relaxing.

More advanced levels become quite difficult.

Sometimes you have to think through your moves instead of acting fast.

There were levels when I failed five or six times in order to discover the perfect angle to attack the castle.

However, instead of becoming irritating, those situations inspired me to attempt once again.

And that is the reason for the game being addictive.
